Although depression is widespread and talked about now more than ever, a stigma continues to persist and people continue to be told by their family members and friends to pull themselves up by their bootstraps and move on.
Depression can be extremely debilitating. Some struggle to get out of bed, to take care of basic hygiene, etc. For others, it is less obvious as they continue to work and force themselves through their day but do not feel like themselves, do not enjoy activities that they once did, isolate themselves, etc.
Cindy assists with depression by helping people to examine their habits around sleep, diet, and exercise that may be contributing to a low mood as well as encouraging connection to friends and meaningful activities. She also takes a cognitive-behavioral approach by confronting an individual’s negative thoughts and beliefs that are impacting his/her mood.
She encourages gratitude work and affirmations in order to shift one’s mood through the power of positive thought.
